Ponderosa Golf Course has all nine holes open. After the record winter, the maintenance crew has worked hard to get the course ready, and it’s paid off.
Ponderosa features 3,022 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 35. This course has 3 sets of tee boxes as well as a junior tee for a fun golfing experience that caters to all levels of golfers. It also features chipping and practice greens, driving nets, pro shop, snack bar and a fabulous view.
In homage to the area’s ski town roots, Ponderosa’s scorecard is laid out like a ski resort trail map, using green circles, blue squares, and black diamonds to denote difficulty level.
It is the perfect course for beginners, with the different tee boxes and the quick game that comes along with 9 holes. Truckee-Donner Recreation & Park District runs youth golf clinics and outings which ties in to the family friendly feel that Ponderosa Golf Course can provide for the community. It is also good for locals trying to fit some recreation into their busy schedules, or business meetings. Come out to the course during your lunch break or after work for our twilight hours.
Last year TDRPD was able to really see the benefits from our irrigation project. The project replaced all of the course's irrigation lines and input a state of the art watering system that has improved efficiency and effectiveness. In 2020, TDRPD was able to go through with the project with grants from the Truckee Tahoe Airport District ($1,000,000) and Truckee Donner Public Utility District ($227,000). The course was in the best conditions we’ve ever seen last summer, and it is really showing again so far at the start of this golf season.
Ponderosa also has a newly renovated Pro Shop, which is stocked with snacks, golf balls, hats, sunscreen, and other golf accessories. The 
renovations included an improved retail experience and with an end goal of becoming a year round facility to provide activities during the winter months.
