Vets Hall Outside

The Truckee Veterans Memorial Building (TVMB) was built in 1939 on the site of the C.F. McGlashan Mansion, still surrounded by the original stone retaining wall. The TVMB was dedicated on May 25, 1941, to the Veterans of World War I from this area. Built through the efforts of American Legion Truckee Chapter 439, it stands as an iconic beacon above Truckee. Architect George C. Sellon (1881-1954), California’s first state architect, designed the original plans for the TVMB. Past uses include a schoolhouse, community center, Veterans’ meeting place, social events, shooting range, and an emergency shelter.
