Board of Directors: Summer Update
Beaches, lakes, rivers, trails, golf, baseball, sailing, and so much more. If you’re like most of us who live and visit here - it’s always about the recreation. And all of our teams work incredibly hard to maximize your enjoyment. If you like what you’re experiencing, please give these hard working folks a compliment. They’re awesome!
GREAT NEWS is the grand opening of our 26,500 square foot aquatic center slated for Labor Day weekend this September. Be sure to watch our website, advertisements, and social media for the formal ribbon cutting and recognition celebrations. We’re planning to pull out all the stops to showcase this amazing facility which has taken well over a decade of planning and budgeting to get completed. Lap swimming, competitions, water polo, diving, lazy river oating, warm water therapy sessions, birthday swim parties, and tons more. Oh, and did I forget to mention our brand new coffee, and health food addition? Yes, a full blown healthy food deli awaits your visit. So get ready, bring the suit, sip a smoothie and wet your toes! This one will be incredibly fun.
Your Board of Directors are an amazing group of talented and hard working professionals. They, and your General Manager Steve Randall, are continuing to solidify funding mechanisms to increase facility maintenance and upkeep. We noticed quite awhile ago that some of our facilities where starting to look a bit tired. The Board, General Manager, and staff have now begun initiating a number of new projects to maintain and increase the usage of some our very important facilities: We’ve hired more staff, initiated projects to update Donner Lake piers, and have begun tackling building upgrades at Meadow Park & Riverview Sports facility. These projects will continue forward for quite some time, so keep looking for improvements.
Did you know that The Truckee Community Center has the largest rotating Art display in Truckee? It’s fascinating. Did you also know that you can register for most classes on-line now? Give it a shot. Did you know we will have a new website and logo by May? So much we’ve done, and look forward to doing moving forward. In closing all of us at the Truckee Donner Recreation & Park District wish to extend our thanks to you for spending time with us at all of our facilities. There is more excitement to come, and we couldn’t do it without you.
